The following is a personal statement that does not reflect in any way the views or political stands of the Town of Sandown or the Sandown Police Department.

THE WAR ON TERROR

 On a beautiful September morning in 2001, our world came to a complete stop.  We all remember that day.  Where we were.  What we were doing. Who we were with.  We sat in front of televisions, listened to radios, and hugged our children.  Some of us didn't sleep for days, fearful of what the darkness would bring.

We all know the story.  How it happened, why it happened.  We all lived it.

Some days I look around and wonder where the patriotism has gone.  For a while a flag flew on every home, store and car.  Slowly, they came down, and life was back to "normal".

Do you ever think about the War on Terror?

Politics aside.  There are thousands and thousands of young men and women willing to sacrifice so much to protect all of us.  Because of them, we are safe. We go about our daily lives, basically back to normal and unchanged. They follow orders and do incredible things to make sure we at home are safe from harm.  Please remember them in your prayers.  Support them! Never Forget!

It Has Always Been The Soldier.
It is the soldier, not the President who gives us democracy.
It is the soldier, not the Congress who takes care of us.
It is the soldier, not the Reporter who has given us Freedom of Press.
It is the soldier, not the Poet who has given us Freedom of Speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus Organizer who has given us the
Freedom to Demonstrate.
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag;
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
that allows the protester to burn the flag.
